Hi everyone and welcome to Sewist!

We are planning to have this platform in 9 different languages and will be gradually working on adding language versions to the website. If you see a part of the website that is not correct, please let us know.

If you would like to help us translating, it would be just great! )))

I am so glad that many countries are included in one website, because I love seeing what other people world-wide are sewing. There are so many different cultures with so many different ways of looking at the same thing. This really inspires me!

Totally agree! The first language we'll be adding is Russian, and I shall post a shout out to a terrific forum they have out there.

I shall ask our translators to work on the other language versions as well, and we'll probably be adding them within a couple of weeks. Our main idea is to make it convenient for everyone to use :)

Would there perhaps be a wiki of some sort for community-based translation? I'm also a Russian/English speaker, but it sounds like you've got that end of things covered already. :)

Oh I'd love to, but we can't do wiki for languages, it is just some technical thing really... We have Russian covered, it is actually ready, we are just polishing it because Russian words and sentences are longer and have to be shortened somewhere so that design still works :)

We'll also have the website translated into Spanish soon, and we are still working on the other languages :)

Hi! I'm excited to be a part of this sewing community!
If you are ever interested in translating the site to Japanese, I would love to help.

There are so many enthusiastic sewers here in Japan and so many great places to shop for fabric.
I'm sure many of the Japanese sewers will be thrilled to use the stash management feature.

Thanks, that would be just great! :)

We are going to add some features that were recently requested, and then work on the language files, so that we don't have to make the work twice. That would probably be within a week, and then we can discuss the details.

I speak only English, but I'm happy to help where I can with wording. I've found several spots where the wording was a little awkward. Is there a good spot (perhaps here??) I can give you those?

Yes, please post right here and we'll correct. Those places are probably where the IT boys worded it :)

Are you offering to pay your translators? If so, I would gladly help translate the site to French!

I would be happy to help translating to Norwegian. The amount of Norwegian sewers grow rapidly and I find it a shame that few seem to have found their way to sewist and Lekala. Obviously, the language barrier might scare quite a few. I will do what I can spreading the word! Let me know if this is something you find interesting.

That would be seriously great! We never dared translating into Scandinavian languages, as no one in the team would be able to proof read. However there's really lots of texts, so probably we would look into hiring something for the general texts and you'd kindly help us to proof read?

For instructions, we are offering 3 free patterns in return of a translation of instructions into your language :) We are planning to make some changes on servers to list them automatically, but if you've translated anything for yourself, just e-mail me at info@sewist.com and I'll have it all arranged :)

Got it! I'll PM the details on the second question, as we need to give it a thought, and for the translation I think we can certainly work together :)

I shall see if we have files properly updated and will get back to you this week :)
