(153) Sew the larger pocket facings to the smaller pocket facings between the markings. Press towards the larger pocket facing. Treat as one piece (Pocket Facing) in the future. Sew the side pockets to the outer Pocket Facing accordingly (Left Side Pocket to larger facing, Right Side Pocket to smaller facing). Clip into curves and press towards facings. Pin the inner Pocket Facing onto the pocket, wrong sides together, and sew along the pocket opening and side pocket facings. Turn under the edge of the inner pocket facing and stitch in the ditch. Press side and lower sides of the outer pocket onto wrong side (you may want to use a pattern block for the pocket cut from cardboard to make this step easier). Place the pocket on front according to marks, baste in place, and topstitch all around. (154) Sew the center seam of the pockets from marking to bottom. Press the seam apart. Place the inner pocket onto the outer pocket and sew around, leaving an opening for turning in the lower part of the pocket. Trim corners, turn the pocket right side out and press. Place the pocket on front according to marks, baste in place, and topstitch all around. Turn the one-piece flaps down, optionally tack them to the pocket with invisible stitches. (159) Pin Front Flounce onto Front Skirt right sides together, matching notches. Sew, serge and press towards flounce. |
