Notes My mother picked out the fabric 2 or 3 years ago after my husband gave me a gift certificate to a yarn and fabric shop. I knew I wanted something reasonably intricate, but given how expensive layer cakes are, I really wanted to make sure I used as much of the fabric in the quilt as possible. So I spent a lot of time doing the math to make sure it would come out just right, then I used the layer cake plus a couple yards of white. I cut each 10" square into 5 - 2 inch strips and then used a tutorial from the Ginger Monkey to strip piece it. Turned out every bit as awesome as I hoped.Originally wanted a blue toile back to contrast/coordinate with the toile fabrics in the line, but couldn't find one I liked. Picked up a gray/pink floral that was okay, but was never really excited about it, which was a shame because I paid a fortune for it. Finally talked myself into finding something better and just eat the cost of the floral (I'll use it for something later) and found a green vine/floral that I absolutely love. The binding is a tiny, tiny micro floral in red and white that I'm also not in love with, but it goes well enough and the pop of color on the edge is nice, so I'm just going to go with it.
