Notes This rebuild is rather overdue. This bag is one of two which are being held together by the linings. The second bag will be completed at a later date - The working title is "Sewing is a pleasure" and will show slogans about sewing as a hobby. The last of the photos was taken when I added the linings to both bags. It shows the bag as it looked when I first got it. This was three years ago. The elegant model is Coco, her brother Felix was asleep at the time!2nd June: The messy stage - disassembly. You will see the damage from the last photo. The jute is going very thin and the original thin plastic coating has disintegrated in places, and there are quite large holes. I have removed the stiffened corners and edges. The lining I had originally added came from a curtain I picked up cheaply from a charity shop. It has three pockets. This lining will be reused for the final bag. The handles from teh bag will be reused for my completed bag -they are still in very good condition and have barely worn at all.24th August: Just started working on the sections which will carry slogans. Yes, this bag will have a message. The first one reads "5Rs for sewers".28th August: The first three sides are all ready to be sewn together, the fourth side is in the process of being sewn together and the buttons added for decoration only. Then I can get on with quilting the base. Looking forward to constructing the finished pieces into a bag.29th August: I have now updated the photos to show the completed sides. The base is just the background fabric I used for the two sides and will be quilted before the pieces are assembled into the completed bag.30th August: Sewed the bag together and then added the handles and lining. Pleased to say that all items used on this bag were in my stash already. The only items bought specifically for this project were the buttons and the iron-on motifs of the cats and Snoopy.
