This fabric was bought cheaply in Hobbycraft where it cost just £1.99 a metre! Needless to say I couldn't leave it there and bought four metres for myself. This will be useful for trialling a jacket pattern.8th September: Cut out the fabric this afternoon, decided to add a lining since the original design is unlined.11th September: I have now cut out the lining fabric using the pattern pieces for the body and sleeves of the jacket. The interfacing has also been added to the front and neck facings. I've got loads of the coffee cup fabric left, so will start looking out for suitable bag patterns.22nd September: Now that the apron swap and my two blouses are complete and the work I had been booked to do has been cancelled, I can get on with some serious sewing today. Yippee!24th September: Well, the lining and the jacket have now been sewn together around the neckline. The final pressing and work on the hems can wait until the morning. I'm quite pleased with the jacket so far, but I think I need to do more work to get the fit a bit better next time around. I'm not going to fuss too much with this one since I intend wearing it over jumpers. The next one I intend to make as part of a suit.26th September: The jacket is now complete! I have just pressed it and left it hanging in the wardrobe ready to wear.The lower photograph gives a better idea of teh colour of the jacket. One thing I love about this design is the pockets hidden in the side seams. |
