Thank you so much for this site!  This is the site I have been looking for!  Reminds me so much of Ravelry for knitting and crochet! So glad to see there is finally one for sewing! I am glad to be apart of the community!

Maybe you can add a possibility to add a designer to a stash entry? It shouldn't be a "must" to add it, but a "could". There are some famous fabric designers, patchwork at one side like Timeless Treasures, for kids fabrics at the other side, like Hamburger Liebe, Lillestoff and more :) And the with the possibility to search you can see what fabrics others has from the same designer.

And i wanted to ask - haven't been there a night theme? i only see it at your avatar :D

And it would be great if you add another option to the stash Design. There are so many fabrics which don't fit in :D I really really miss stars, but also a generally option like "motive" for all those wonderful not-baby-fabrics :D

We are still looking into this to shape the database properly.

Firstly, we'd be adding fabric shops, both online and brick and mortar.

Secondly, we might add designer names? brands? collections? but we need to decide if we need all the three ones, or just some of these?

And the night theme turned off for me (8 pm here, didn't check earlier) - probably it would show at your place also now?

20:16 o'clock. But I don't had it the other days, too, even when browsing after midnight. I only heard/read of the theme. Maybe another Linux/ Chromium-Problem?

Oh yes, that's the only one :) Dark is funny, but I wouldn't dare publish it all over the website - it's not user-friendly I believe :)

Ok, not really a new feature, but something that I find a bit annoying (also on the Lekala site actually) is that when you're on (eg.) the pattern list pages, and you click onto the next page, the page changes, but it stays at the bottom so you have to scroll up. Not really a big issue, more of a little niggle.

Was just adding my first few projects - looks like I'm the first quilter to jump in with projects, but that's okay! Nothing like blazing a trail. Here are the things I noticed. Most of this is related to setting up a project and they're not really new features I'm looking for, so much as things that stood out as odd or missing to me. And there's a couple items I noticed just generally browsing around.

1. In the status, "Frogged" is very specific to knitting. Perhaps something more global, like "Abandoned" or "In the trash"?
2. I think you need to add a few more options to the Status menu. I know for my projects, something might be "In Progress" for years while I work on, but there's plenty of intermediate steps, like "In planning" or "Picking out materials" or even "Needs Ironing before I can move on to the next step."
3. When I'm creating a new project, clicking the "Upload Photo" button should take me to the Photos tab immediately instead of just putting the project back in "Edit Mode", where I have to click the Photos tab.
4. There's no progress indicator for uploading photos, so if I'm uploading something big, it makes me think the upload isn't running. That's a little scary.
5. Please add an option to denote the size made (free-form)
6. Please add an option to denote intended recipient (my mom, me, Etsy, my dog, etc.)
7. On Safari, Yosemite, the left/right navigation buttons are missing from calendar widget. If I click in the right area, the widget does progress through the months, but the arrows are invisible.
8. For sewing projects, percentage may not be the best representation of progress? But maybe that's just me.
9. In the list of all Projects, I'd like to be able to filter Projects by type - tatting/sewing/quilting/knitting/crochet - and maybe some other things? Like date or "most likes".
10. On the Forums list page, I should be able to click on the name of the Forum to take me to the page of the Group associated with that Forum.

Something that would be helpful to me: I can't put in my twitter handle, it tells me it's invalid. I'm guessing this is because it's the_wanlorn and has an underscore in it, maybe? In any case, it'd be great to be able to list my twitter on my profile. Thanks!

Perhaps "reclaimed" instead of frogged? To me, "frogged" implies being able to reuse the materials. Obviously that's not often possible with sewn things but I'm sure a lot of people use projects that have gone wrong as scraps for others.

+1 on errata being important - I think this is the sort of thing that makes a site like this really useful - knowing that x other people made this with no problems, or that a pattern maker has supplied an updated version of something. It'd be great if Sewist became the one-stop place for this sort of info - at the moment I just google "pattern name problem" before a project if I remember and hope someone's blogged about it!

There's an awful lot of projects for which the pattern isn't on Sewist but could be if the person added it. I guess the add system might be a bit daunting for some.
From adding the Colette Hawthorn:
- the "source" selection is mandatory so I think it should be one of the first things you see. I filled in what I could see on the first tab and clicked "save draft" and got an error message saying I need a source. It also dumped everything I had put in! I almost gave up at that point!
- The description box only takes 1000 characters. I copied & pasted the description from the Colette site and it was more than that. Maybe I shouldn't have done that for copyright reasons, but if not then 1000 is probably too small for something with multiple views/options to be described.
- It could possibly do with the option of views. Hawthorn is a dress or blouse so the fabric requirements range from 1.5yards to 3 5/8yards depending on which view you make
- Fabric requirements should probably be in metres and yards rather than cm and inches. Although width in cm or inches is fine... Oh dear. Not a logical, standardised industry! The multiple fabric widths work nicely though.
- Is it a PDF or a printed pattern? It's both! I thought the text on the right was implying that I should use the booklet option but it didn't seem to work so I think I switched to something else...

Speaking of errata, is it errata, or review? We already have projects, I was thinking on adding comments and reviews.

Could you please give me an example of how errata is different from a pattern review with certain not-so-positive rating for some of the parts?

This is probably here somewhere.
Is there a "How to" section to help new people to the site like me? I have added a project, but could not add a photograph. The design, a quilt, is my own. Since I am developing it as I go, I currently have no idea exactly what size the finished quilt might be.
Also, I often use vintage patterns ( 1970s, 1980s). Is it possible to use these since the patterns themselves will long since have gone out of print? I would be happy to show photos of my finished version, or work in progress, even if I would not be able to use any photos of the pattern itself. I ask since another project which I shall be cutting out tomorrow, uses a pattern dating from 1983.
Best wishes,
Mandy.

Hello Mandy,

We shall add a project how-to with pictures, I am just collecting all the ideas to incorporate them.

If it is your own design, then you would choose "Improvised design" setting. If that's a vintage pattern that is not on Sewist, we would welcome adding it to the database of course, or you could just use the setting "Pattern not on Sewist".

Basically, you can add photos once your project is saved for the first time. After it is saved in the database, you can go back to edit mode and add photos on the "Files" tab.

Hope this helps!

Where can we find old forum posts? they seem to disappear. Is there a possibility to add a button on the forum overview to show more topics, if there any?
