Using styleboards as inspiration for sewing patterns

For educational purposes and to illustrate the design features in Sewist CAD, users create Styleboards featuring RTW garments and sewing pattern designs.

Styleboards are a good starting point for a creative process and can serve as a great educational asset for understanding pattern drafting better.

The sewing designs in styleboards are not an intentional reengineering of a pattern and will result in garments that will be similar, but somewhat differ in details, style lines, wearing ease, etc. It is recommended to get a free preview of a pattern and to estimate the length and the width of the pattern blocks and the style lines.

For example, this styleboard based on an RTW garment suggests a similar style with more modest flare of the skirt and a decorative princess seam.
